2015 Honda Civic Type R Euro Spec Front View In Motion 01
Honda made quite the stir when the covers were pulled off the upcoming 2016 Honda Civic Type R at the 2015 Geneva auto show. The hot hatch is the most powerful front-wheel drive car Honda has produced up to this point, with 305 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque pushed out from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and the hatch has plenty of suspension, braking, and aerodynamic mods to help keep up with that power. AUTOMOBILE editor-at-large Art St. Antoine recently spent some quality time behind the wheel of Honda’s newest Type R, and captured a video of the Honda cracking off hot laps around the Slovakia Ring track in Slovakia. To help Art get a feel for the track, Honda brought along a few ringers to give the testers a few tips and tricks about the Ring. Art happened to nab one of the best, 20-year-old Gabriela Jílková. Gabriela is an extremely accomplished driver, with multiple motorsport wins under her belt, ranging from karting all the way to Formula Renault 2.0. She rides shotgun as Art rips from apex to apex with ease. After all, the Civic Type R can hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 167 mph, so drivers need to be at their best to extract maximum performance from the hot hatch. Check back with AUTOMOBILE soon for our full review of the new 2016 Honda Civic Type R. Until then, you can get your fix of Honda’s hottest hatch in the video below.
