The brand new Honda Civic Sedan has made its online debut in its U.S.-spec

The 2016 Honda Civic Sedan has been officially unveiled over-seas. The model in question is the first one of its breed as it will be followed by a coupe, by a five-door hatchback, by the Si and Type R models and it is bringing the LED headlights, the LED DRLs, LED taillights, an improved torsional rigidity by 25 percent thanks to the use of ultra-high strength steel, a 12 percent improved aerodynamic efficiency thanks to the use of full underbody covers and more.

The new generation of the four-door compact car is 31 kg (68 lbs) lighter than its predecessor and it is said to come with extra 3.7 cubic feet of space, with 2 inches of additional rear legroom, with 2.6 cubic feet more in trunk capacity and with lowered cabin air leaks improved by 58 percent thanks to the new body-sealing techniques.

Standard items found across the range include the automatic climate control, with the dual-zone one on the EX-L or above trims, the auto up / down front power windows, electronic parking brake, walk-away auto door locks, adjustable driver’s seat, 7-inch touch screen display for the infotainment system which is supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new center console with 7.2 liters of storage space and more.

Under the hood, the model is bringing a choice of two engines, the 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 16-valve for a total of 158 HP (118 kw), connected to a six-speed manual or a CVT, and a new 1.5 liter turbocharged generating 173 HP (129 kW), mated to a CVT. The 2016 Honda Civic Sedan will be produced in Greensburg, Indiana and Alliston, Ontario, Canada, and it will be offered for sale starting with this fall.
