And it still manages to impress us with its design.

The second generation of the Acura NSX is going to be tackling the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The model in question has received a racing-inspired livery and it will be going up the 14,110-foot Colorado mountain, on the 12.4-mile and 156-turn hill climb, on the 28th of June, as the carmaker has recently announced. The vehicle has been designed by Honda R&D Americas and it will be driven by Sage Marie, senior manager of American Honda Public Relations and two-time Pikes Peak winner.

“The Acura NSX is the ultimate performance vehicle and a novel way to promote its capabilities is the iconic race up Pikes Peak,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of the Acura Division. “As the pace car, the beast that is NSX will not be fully let of its cage, but fans and drivers will still get a first glimpse of the unique character, performance and handling of the NSX in a one-of-a-kind racing environment.”

If you were hoping for some extra details on the Audi R8 rivaling supercar you will be disappointed because Acura is still keeping the performance details a secret. However, we do know that a V6 twin turbo engine is found under its hood and rated at more than 550 HP. This is backed up by no less than 3 electric motors, two of them mounted up front for torque vectoring and the other one added to the rear, between a new 9-speed automatic transmission and the V6 petrol burner. Power is sent to both axles forming the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel drive.
