Besides the model’s fast-sloping hatch, the sketch shows a rather racy center-exit dual exhaust. We’ll see more of the Civic hatch when it makes its debut at the Geneva auto show next month in concept form. (In Honda terms, “concept” means “extremely thinly disguised production vehicle.”) That debut is relevant not just for Europe—where the previous Civic was sold as a hatchback—but for the U.S. also, since we’ll be getting the next-generation five-door, supplied from the company’s Swindon, U.K., plant. It’s also the body style on which the new Type R will be based, and we’ll be getting that car, too.
The production version is set to arrive in early 2017, joining the freshly redesigned sedan and the new coupe (which arrives this spring).
