Payment glitch overcharged some Honda customers
Honda’s financial arm is working to resolve a payment processing glitch that overcharged and added overdraft fees to some customers’ accounts.
Honda identified the error on Wednesday and was still working to resolve the issue on Thursday. Honda has not revealed what might have caused the glitch, but the automaker says the issue affected customers using its hondafinancialservices.com Web site. The automaker also didn’t reveal how many accounts were impacted by the issue.
According to Automotive News, some customers reported that they were charged twice of their monthly car payments. Others reported unwarranted overdraft fees appearing on their account. Honda says it will refund or waive any bogus charges.
“We recognize that payment processing is a serious issue to our customers and we have a team actively working on this issue to resolve it and take care of our customers,” said Senior Vice President of AHFC David Paul. “Customers are our top priority and we apologize for the inconvenience and any concerns that have resulted. We will make this right for our customers.”
Customers trying to resolve any issues on their account will need to be patient; the issues is causing high call volumes for Honda, resulting in wait times that can last as long as 30 minutes.
