Next generation Honda Civic to spawn warm Type S version

A new report issued by Australian media says the tenth generation Honda Civic will be offered in warm Type S variant.

American Honda Motor Executive Vice President John Mendel announced earlier this week the new Civic will go on sale in United States this fall and now Motoring is saying the company is cooking a Type S version available in hatchback and sedan body styles. It will be powered by the already announced new four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine which in this application will be tuned to deliver somewhere in the region of 200 bhp (150 kW) and a maximum torque of 192 lb-ft (260 Nm).

We remind you the regular versions are set to receive less powerful applications of the 1.5-liter engine which will work with a short-shifting six-speed manual gearbox and a new continuously variable transmission. It should be mentioned Honda has decided to drop the Hybrid and CNG derivatives as they believe the overhauled regular Civic will be frugal enough for most drivers.

As a final note, the tenth generation Honda Civic will be a global model and will use the company‚Äôs firm’s next-gen Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure as well as the latest developments in safety & assistance systems like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera.
