Next-generation Honda Civic sedan, coupe revealed in patent images
Images that are claimed to be patent renderings of the tenth-generation Honda Civic sedan and coupe have been published on the internet.
A forum user, calling him- or her-self Administrator, on CivicX.com found the images after reportedly doing a search of the American patent database. The unwatermarked renderings that you see are from Gizmag.
If these images are accurate, this is the first clear look that we’ve had at the important tenth-generation Civic sedan (above and below).
The drawings of the next-generation Civic coupe (below) reveal a car that isn’t very different to the Civic Concept that was unveiled recently at New York auto show.
Dressed in eye-catching lime green paintwork, Civic Concept featured an extra-sporty front and rear bumper, body kit and rear spoiler that aren’t present in these patent renderings.
Those items may be reserved for the sports-oriented Si model that’s been a fixture in US lineup for generations. The more run-of-the-mill coupe models look set to retain the concept’s wrap-around tail-lights, though.
Up front, both the sedan and coupe look like they will feature a heavily chromed and winged grille, as well as side windows where only the upper portion of the frame is covered in brightwork.
The next-generation Civic will be revealed in full in the near future, with the sedan due to go on sale in the US from the third quarter of this year. The coupe will join the sedan in North American showrooms during the northern winter.
A made-in-England Civic hatchback is set to debut later and will be sold across the world. It’s unknown, at this stage, when the next-generation Civic sedan will be introduced into other markets, including ours.
