Acura has revealed the facelifted 2017 MDX during the New York International Auto Show.

The model is a tad more dynamic now thanks to the subtle tweaks operated on the design level. There’s a new front end with a “diamond pentagon” grille and fresh Jewel Eye headlights. Additionally the crossover has been granted new LED fog lights and restyled side skirts with chrome accents. There are also small modifications operated out back where there’s a new rear bumper and a dual exhaust system. The interior has largely carried over and Acura has now fitted an electric parking brake and four new USB charging ports. A plethora of different options will also be available and premium versions will pack goodies such as a heated steering wheel, a surround-view camera, and Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood trim.

The powertrain has remained the same – 3.5-liter V6 engine but there’s also a new addition, the new MDX Sport Hybrid. This one comes with a Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain that uses a 3.0-liter V6 engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and three electric motors. The new setup is delivering a combined maximum output of 325 horsepower – 35 above the standard model’s level. While more powerful, the MDX Sport Hybrid is also expected to be less fuel happy – estimates call for 25 miles per gallon city / 26 mpg highway / 26 mpg combined. The refreshed MDX is hitting dealerships this summer and the MDX Sport Hybrid will follow swiftly.
