Organizers of the 2016 Los Angeles auto show have already confirmed at least 20 world debuts will be taking place, and now they’ve confirmed that one of these will be the new Honda Civic Si.
The hardcore Civic Type R that was previewed in prototype form during September’s 2016 Paris auto show will be available exclusively as a hatch. For buyers after the sedan or coupe body styles, the tamer Si will have to suffice.

There aren’t any details on the new Si, though we know it will be launched on the market in 2017. It will likely feature a detuned version of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 destined for the Type R, delivering something between 200 and 250 horsepower. The most potent Civics right now are the Sport and Sport Touring models which offer 180 hp from their turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4s.
Also confirmed for the L.A. auto show are two models from Porsche, Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio SUV, and Jeep’s new Compass. We’re also expecting the new Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V and Mini Countryman, as well as new three-row SUVs from Subaru and Volkswagen.
The action all starts November 14. To learn more about some of the other vehicles appearing, simply visit our dedicated hub.
