The third-generation Honda Jazz (known as the Fit in other parts of the world) is finally arriving in European dealerships following its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this spring.
The B-segment hatchback is 95mm (3.7in) longer than its predecessor, with the wheelbase extended by 30mm (1.18in), which means it offers more space for passengers and luggage. For example, rear seat occupants enjoy 115mm (4.5in) more legroom, while the standard boot volume of 354 liters (12.5 cu-ft) rises to 1,314 liters (46.4 cu-ft) with the rear seats folded and filled up to the roof line.
Space and versatility are further enhanced thanks to innovative solutions such as the center-mounted fuel tank and the Magic Seats system.
In Europe, the all-new Honda Jazz will be offered at launch with a new 1.3-liter i-VTEC petrol engine delivering 102PS (101hp) at 6,000 rpm and 123Nm (91lb-ft) of torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine is mated as standard to a new six-speed manual gearbox (replacing the previous five-speed unit) or an optional CVT transmission.
The engine complies with the Euro 6 emissions standard and returns 4.6 l/100 km (61.4 mpg UK or 51.1 mpg US), with corresponding CO2 emissions of 106 g/km (figures obtained with the CVT). Acceleration figures won’t impress nobody though: 0-100 km/h (62 mph) takes 11.2 seconds with the manual transmission and 12 seconds with the CVT. Top speed is 190 km/h (118 mph) with the manual (183 km/h or 113 mph with the CVT).
Honda says it has tuned the suspension specifically for Europe in order to enhance driving pleasure on typical European roads. The new Jazz will be available in three grades on the continent (base, mid and upper), with base models getting air conditioning and a 5-inch LCD audio display in the center of the dash as standard features.
Mid-grade models get a 7-inch Honda Connect infotainment touchscreen and steering wheel-mounted audio controls, while upper grade models add leather steering wheel, keyless entry and push-button engine start/stop, as well as touch panel controls for the automatic air conditioning.
