The 2016 Honda Civic GRC wears the red, white, blue, and yellow scheme of Red Bull, with painfully cool red chrome wheels. The Civic GRC has copious go to match the show, with 600 hp sent to all four wheels, resulting in a staggering 0-60-mph time of 1.9 seconds.
Unlike the point-to-point stages in the World Rally Championship, where the drivers are essentially competing against the clock and not mixed in the middle of a pack of cars, Global Rallycross is a full-grid race series, with special circuits and cars. The drivers race alongside a field of similarly prepared cars, jumping and sliding through circuits of mixed surface media, including mud, sand, tarmac, and dirt.
The Honda Civic GRC was developed and built by rally-prep team Olsbergs MSe, and driven by Sebastian Eriksson and Joni Wiman.
The 2016 Honda Civic Coupe GRC makes its competition debut on May 21st in Phoenix, AZ. The first race of the season will be held at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park from May 21st to May 22nd.
