That’s about to change though, with the introduction of the DTi-L Limited Edition, which also ushers in the arrival of Honda’s Earth Dreams engine range to its SUV Lineup.
The Earth Dreams 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine produces 118kW of power at 4000rpm and 350Nm of torque at 2000rpm, routed to an all wheel drive system via a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel consumption is rated at 5.9 l/100km improving on the 6.2 l/100km rating of the previous 2.2 litre diesel automatic. Power also climbs by 8kW while torque remains steady.
The new DTi-L also brings the diesel models into line with the rest of the Series II CR-V range, adopting a new grille, headlights, front and rear bumpers and taillights.
“Not only does the CR-V Series II DTi-L receive this new powertrain, it features refreshed styling, upgraded specification and sharp pricing, making it an attractive proposition for our customers,” said Honda Australia Director, Stephen Collins.
Front fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and chrome door handles round out the exterior styling.
Inside the DTi-L Limited Edition arrives with leather-appointed seat trim with heated front seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control. and a five inch Multi-Information Display.
Infotainment is provided via Honda’s Display Audio system with seven inch colour touch screen and Siri Eyes Free mode, satellite navigation and a multi-angle rear view camera.
New to the CR-V range is an electric tailgate, which can be operated from the tailgate itself, from inside the vehicle, or via the key fob. It also features automatic latching of the tailgate is manually closed.
Safety equipment includes antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist (electronic stability control), emergency stop signal, high beam support system, hill start assist, hill descent control, and tyre pressure monitoring.
Priced from $44,290 before on road costs, the CR-V Series II DTi-L is available from Honda dealers nationally in limited numbers.
