Honda has announced the production start of the new Civic Type R generation in the United Kingdom.

The first three units of the Honda Civic Type R have recently rolled off the assembly line in the United Kingdom as the carmaker has recently announced. The even has been celebrated by employees and it couldn’t go by unseen for the press.

“The new Civic Type R is an imperative model for Honda, representing our racing spirit and demonstrating our commitment to innovation and passion. We are extremely proud to be the only manufacturer of the Civic Type R in the world”, said Soichiro Tazikawa, the manufacturing managing director from Honda of UK.

The Honda Civic Type R has been officially presented to the public back in March, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The model is taking aim at the Ford Focus RS and the Volkswagen Golf R, despite its engine has been rated at 310 HP (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Speaking of the engine, you should know that the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit is found under its hood. This is allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and to go up to a top speed of 270 km/h (167 mph). Power is being sent to the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
