The CEO of Honda doesn’t even own a car.
That’s because Takahiro Hachigo is waiting for the Civic Type R, like any responsible Honda CEO should be. Recently returning to Japan after spending years worldwide as the new CEO of Honda Motor Co., Hachigo currently owns a small VTR 250 motorbike and uses that as his method of transportation “every now and then.”
There’s nothing sporting four wheels in Hachigo’s possession, but that’ll change when the Civic Type R is available. “Unfortunately, I don’t have a car now,” he said recently an interview. “But I want to buy the Civic Type R.”
The Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 306 hp and Honda has said that the five-door hatch will go 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 167 mph. Along with the Civic Type R, the CEO is also excited on the new Japan-market S660 convertible.
Honda promises that the Civic Type R will eventually make it over to the U.S., but it might not be the same model being offered in Europe and Asian markets.
