Not long ago the Japanese automaker took to unveiling the new Civic Hatchback in its US specification – a first for the compact – and now the Euro-guise should be ready for prime time during the Paris Motor Show.
The European 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will be presented at the French show alongside the Civic Sedan and the new Jazz Spotlight Edition. The teaser is unimportant because we already know the European Civic hatch will be virtually identical to the US sibling, save for the orange side markers which are mandatory in North America. The interior should also be the same so the main differences might reside in the usable powerplants. Honda isn’t sharing any specifications about the Civic Hatchback to be sold across European markets, as it tries to remain mysterious.
But we already know it’s going to be offered with a new three-cylinder, 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, alongside the 1.5-liter already offered on the sedan and coupe in the United States. Since we’re dealing with the old continent, Honda will also have on point the familiar 1.6-liter i-DTEC unit – albeit it might get updated for higher efficiency and lower emissions. Manufactured in Swindon, the UK, the hatchback will be backed by the sedan – though the latter will be produced like the predecessor in Turkey and will not reach some markets, such as Great Britain.
