Fernando Alonso posted the attached photo on his Instagram account, indicating he recently took delivery of a brand new Honda Civic Type R.
After making the switch from Ferrari to McLaren Honda for the 2015 Formula 1, it’s only obvious that 34-year-old Fernando Alonso Díaz is now also an ambassador for McLaren, Honda and Acura. He uploaded an image on social media with a red Civic Type R with the caption “E voilà”, so this is likely a gift from his employer’s engine supplier.
It’s only a temporary car as the double Formula 1 champion has expressed his desire at the beginning of this year to get his hands on the second generation Acura NSX. However, he will have to wait a little bit more as the most recent report states Acura has pushed back the supercar’s launch until the spring of 2016. This delay was apparently caused by the company’s decision to switch from the concept’s naturally aspirated V6 engine to a twin-turbo V6, thus requiring the change to a longitudinal layout which obviously implied more work for the engineers.
