Authorities won’t charge Edsel Ford II after he was arrested Monday in connection with domestic violence allegations in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, according to multiple media reports.
The 67-year-old great-grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford was released Tuesday after the Grosse Pointe Farms city attorney found a lack of evidence to file charges, Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ said.
Edsel Ford II has held a seat on Ford’s board of directors since 1988 and has worked at his family’s company since 1974. Ford II is married to the former Cynthia Layne Neskow and has four sons.
“We are aware of what has been reported in the press, but it would be inappropriate to comment on personal matters,” Ford Motor Co. said in a statement obtained by WXYZ.
