Asia gets the Honda Civic RS Turbo Modulo image
This is acting like a warm-up to the next generation Type R in Asia, as the Civic packs a more aggressive bodykit to compliment the 173 hp powerplant.
Honda fans living in the Philippines can rejoice because the new Civic version lands there first ahead of other Asian markets, with the Civic RS Turbo Modulo tasked to “further amplifying its aggressive sporty appeal”. This desire comes with front corner splitters, large side skirts, extended rear valance and finishers for the twin tailpipes. There are also Modulo badges and tread plates, while the flagship trim RS Turbo Modulo Sport also has matt black, 17-inch wheels. Under the hood lies the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine – but unfortunately it hasn’t been modified so it still has 173 horsepower and 159 pound-feet of torque, linked to a continuously variable transmission that directs the power to the front axle.
Oddly enough, the Modulo can also be ordered with the naturally-aspirated, 1.8-litre engine delivering 141 HP and 126 lb-ft, with the same transmission setup. The RS Turbo Modulo is priced from PHP 1,445,000, or $30,510 – you might think this is much, but also consider the import taxes in the Philippines are shameless. The sportiest Civic for the current generation is expected next year, with the Type R rumored to boast more than 300 hp and also reach the United States for the first time.
