“Long awaited” doesn’t even begin to describe the monumental, all-new 2017 Acura NSX. After years of anticipation, the supercar’s ordering process officially kicks off on February 25th, but for those with decidedly less than the $156,000 to spend on a rarified Acura… there is another piece of NSX history that you can get your hands on. And it’s this hood.
Acura and eBay have teamed up to auction off this 2017 NSX hood, which is currently on display at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The sleek bonnet has been signed by over two dozen celebrities in attendance at the film event, and if you bid before the auction wraps up on January 31st… it could be yours.
So far, the celebrity signature list includes TV personalities, movie stars, recording artists, and more, including the likes of Chelsea Handler, Daniel Radcliffe, Nick Jonas, Reggie Watts, Danny DeVito, Anderson Cooper, Craig Robinson, and John Krasinski.
Interestingly, Acura says the hood can be mounted as a piece of wall art (very, very rare wall art), or you could have it clipped onto your very own 2017 Acura NSX, provided you plan on buying one of the 573-horsepower supercars.
Currently bidding has climbed to the $2,600 mark, though it will likely climb much, much higher. All proceeds will be donated to the Pediatric Brain Foundation, which helps to fund medical research into the treatment of childhood brain tumors and support the families of children affected.
If you’re currently attending Sundance, take a peek inside the Acura Studio to see the NSX hood on display, where it will remain for the duration of the festival.
