2016 Honda Civic Spyshot Front Three Quarters 6
Our spy photographers got up-close and personal with the 2016 Honda Civic sedan as the cars tested in the desert, giving us a look at the cars’ Acura-like noses and totally new interiors. As on the concept that debuted at the New York auto show, these 2016 Honda Civic prototypes have an almost Acura-like nose with a wide, narrow grille opening that leads into upswept headlights. Those headlights may adopt the full-LED technology available on the 2016 Honda Accord Touring. Out back, a slightly rounded trunk shape with integrated spoilers are closer to the shape of today’s Honda Civic sedan. The cars spotted here were clearly of different trim levels within the 2016 Honda Civic range, with one wearing 17-inch wheels and dual exhausts, and the other rolling on 16-inch wheels and a single exhaust.

Within the cabin, the 2016 Honda Civic ditches the futuristic dashboard layout of the current car in favor of a single instrument binnacle in front of the driver. A three-spoke steering wheel features myriad buttons for audio and cruise controls, while the center stack boasts Honda‘s new touchscreen infotainment system (with several large physical controls), as well as a tidy row of controls for automatic climate controls. Behind the leather-wrapped shifter, the center console has a large storage compartment between the front seats. High-end options visible on these testers include the HondaWatch blind-spot camera system, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats.

The 2016 Honda Civic will use a new 1.5-liter turbo-four engine, and in addition to the sedan seen here, the compact car will be offered as a coupe and as a four-door hatchback. We’ll even — finally! — get the hot Civic Type R in the U.S. market. Expect the 2016 Honda Civic to be fully revealed later this year.
