Honda plans to pull the sheet off the 2016 Civic sedan on Wednesday, but we have an early look at the new model thanks to eagle-eyed members of the CivicX.com forum. A poster on the forum spotted a 2016 Honda Civic sedan parked in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, without any camouflage. As these photos show, the production-ready Civic sedan has many of the wild styling cues from the Civic concept that was revealed at the 2015 New York auto show.

This 2016 Honda Civic sedan has the same general shape as the prototypes we spied, with a sloping roofline and a more rounded nose. The car’s fenders flare outward , with a strong character line running through the door handles to connect the front and rear fenders. Up front, the 2016 Honda Civic adopts an almost Acura-like nose, with a chrome grille, narrow headlights topped by chrome trim, and angular cutouts in the lower fascia. Yet it’s in back where this Civic sedan takes on its most dramatic look. Below the large rear windshield, boomerang-shaped taillights poke out from the rear fascia, surrounding a trunklid that’s topped by a subtle lip spoiler.

Earlier spy photos also revealed that the 2016 Honda Civic sedan will have a revised dashboard that abolishes the unusual split-level design of today’s Civic. Expect high-tech options like the LaneWatch blind-spot camera and heated rear seats. Under the hood, Honda will fit the new Civic sedan with a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine that will likely mate to either a manual transmission or continuously variable transmission. Check back on Wednesday, September 16 to see the 2016 Honda Civic sedan fully revealed. Until then, take a look at spy photos of the new car both here and at CivicX.com.
